P2P Telephony Software Leader Nimcat Charts New Path for Industry with Downloadable, Enterprise-Class Phone Features

eCommerce Site Enables Nimcat-Powered Device Users to Purchase New Telephony Features

That Require No Additional Hardware

Ottawa, Ontario— (August 1, 2005) — Nimcat Networks, the premiere provider of embedded, peer-to-peer (P2P) call processing software, today launched nimGate – a new eCommerce website that gives telecommunications resellers, distributors and service providers a new revenue stream. Their users can purchase and download new telephony features, for their Nimcat-powered handsets, that can be easily installed via a PC and require no additional telephony hardware.

The first modules available for purchase are nimX VoiceMail Notification and nimX System Web Administrator. Both build on nimX™, Nimcat’s embedded P2P call processing software that enables the cost-effective development voice over IP (VoIP) phones that contain enterprise-class telephony features – yet need no private branch exchange (PBX). The modules are available through resellers and service providers or directly at Nimcat’s nimGate website.

Nimcat Networks’ P2P call processing software – takes the intelligence usually found in the PBX and distributes it to the end-user communication device.  Phones systems that contain Nimcat’s technology, independently recognize the other terminals on the network and instantly form a trusted, virtual exchange with the ability to interact with their peers, connect to the PSTN or any WAN VoIP channel.

Users only need to power up a nimX-enabled handset or softphone and watch while it automatically configures itself, allowing calls to be made and received within minutes without any additional complex setup or centralized equipment.  Call-control, voice-mail, auto-attendant and teleworker, among other key features, are all contained within and powered by the IP telephone or softphone.

The nimX VoiceMail Notification and nimX System Web Administrator modules are available now.  The nimX VoiceMail Notification module is free. The nimX System Web Administrator module is priced at $100.00.
